- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Unroll puff pastry sheets onto a floured work surface. Cut each sheet into 6 small squares. Arrange squares on 2 baking sheets. Spread cream cheese over the center of each square.
- Mix apples, sugar, and cinnamon together in a separate bowl. Spoon mixture onto the squares. Pinch corners of each square together.
- Bake in the preheated oven until puffed up and golden, 20 to 25 minutes.

APPLE-CREAM CHEESE TURNOVERS | BETTER HOMES & GARDENS
Fill these yummy puff pastry turnovers with tender apples and cream cheese for a whole new spin on apple desserts. Spread a little powdered sugar icing on top to make them even sweeter.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Line 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper.
- For filling, in a large skillet heat butter and brown sugar over medium heat until butter melts. Add apples and 1/4 cup water. Cover and cook 5 minutes. Uncover and cook 8 to 10 minutes more or just until apples are tender, stirring occasionally. Remove and cool slightly. Stir in 4 oz. of the cream cheese, the flour, and egg yolk; mix well.
- On a lightly floured surface, unfold and roll out one pastry sheet to a 12-inch square. Cut into nine 4-inch squares. Spoon a rounded tablespoon of the filling into the center of each square. Brush edges of pastry squares with water. Fold each pastry in half to form a triangle. Seal edges with the tines of a fork. In a small bowl combine the beaten egg and 1 Tbsp. water. Brush half of the egg mixture over pastries. Arrange on one of the prepared baking sheets. Bake 15 minutes or until puffed and golden. Remove; cool on wire rack placed over waxed paper.
- Repeat with remaining puff pastry, filling, and egg mixture to make 9 more turnovers.
- In a medium bowl beat the remaining 2 oz. cream cheese with a mixer on medium until smooth. Gradually beat in powdered sugar. Beat in enough milk, 1 Tbsp. at a time, to reach a thick drizzling consistency. Transfer to a resealable plastic bag. Snip one corner from the bag. Drizzle icing over the turnovers. Serve warm or let cool.

- Remove puff pastry sheets from the freezer and packaging. Place on counter to thaw for 40 minutes. Meanwhile, let cream cheese and eggs come to room temperature. Line two cookie sheets with parchment. Set oven rack to the middle and upper third of the oven. Preheat oven to 400ºF. In the last 5 minutes of the pastry thawing time, make the cream cheese mixture. Beat the cream cheese, sugar, egg yolk, lemon juice, and extracts on medium-low speed until combined. Scrape bottom and sides of the bowl. Increase speed to medium-high and beat until completely smooth. Roll the puff pastry sheets lightly to smooth the fold lines. Use a pizza or pastry cutter to cut into four squares. Place 4 squares on each baking sheet. Whisk the egg, water, and salt together. Brush egg wash onto the border of each square. Fold in the corners of the squares. Dollop 2 tablespoons of the cream cheese mixture in the middle of each pastry. Brush any exposed pastry dough with the egg wash. Bake for 18 minutes, rotating the sheets at around 10 minutes. Remove from cookie sheets onto wire racks Let cool at least 10 minutes before serving. The centers will deflate slightly as they cool. Serve warm or at room temperature.
