Peach Crumble Dessert Recipe: How to Make It image

6 cups sliced peeled ripe peaches
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon zest
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
TOPPING:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 large egg, room temperature, lightly beaten
1/2 cup butter, melted and cooled
Vanilla ice cream, optional

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°. Place peaches in a greased shallow 2-1/2-qt. Dutch oven, cast-iron pan or 2-1/2-qt. ovenproof baking dish. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, lemon juice, zest and cinnamon; sprinkle over the peaches. , Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Stir in egg until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over the peaches. Pour butter evenly over topping. , Bake 35-40 minutes. If desired, serve with ice cream.

We love apple pie, but we're not so into making crust. Apple crumble is 1,000 times easier to make and, in our opinion, even better. The buttery pecan crumble is just too perfect, even without any oats.

3/4 c. (1 1/2 sticks) butter, melted, plus more for pan
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. chopped pecans, plus more for serving
1 c. lightly packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp. kosher salt
6 large apples, cored and cut into wedges
1/2 c. granulated sugar
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground ginger
Juice of 1/2 lemon
Vanilla ice cream, for serving

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350° and grease a large baking dish with butter. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, pecans, brown sugar, and salt. Stir in melted butter until texture is coarse and sandy.
  • Add apples, sugar, cinnamon, ginger, and lemon juice to baking dish and toss to combine. Spread in an even layer, then press crumb mixture on top of apples. Bake until apples are bubbling and topping is golden, about 50 minutes.
  • Serve warm with ice cream, if using.
