Everybody loves this recipe, even my friends who do not like sweets. Excellent with fresh whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

½ cup butter
1 cup white sugar
¾ cup self-rising flour
¾ cup milk
1 (29 ounce) can sliced peaches in light syrup

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Place butter in a deep 2 quart baking dish and place in oven to melt.
  • In a medium bowl, mix sugar and flour. Stir in milk, a little at a time, until wholly incorporated. Pour carefully over melted butter in dish. Spoon peaches and syrup over batter.
  • Bake in preheated oven 35 to 45 minutes, until crust is puffed and golden.

I created this peach cobbler recipe myself with a few tips from my mom and grandma. Because it's so quick and easy, it can be made in minutes to suit any occasion. I've used it as a breakfast fruit dish, a dinner dessert and a light snack. —Martha Betten, North Manchester, Indiana

1/2 cup butter, melted
1 can (15-1/4 ounces) sliced peaches, drained
1-1/4 cups sugar, divided
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup 2% milk
Whipped cream, optional

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°. Pour butter into a shallow 2-qt. baking dish; set aside. Drain peaches, reserving 1/4 cup juice. In a saucepan, bring peaches and reserved 1/4 cup juice just to a boil. , Meanwhile, in a bowl, combine 1 cup sugar, flour, baking powder and salt. Stir in milk; mix well. Pour over butter in baking dish. Spoon hot peaches over batter. Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup sugar. Bake until bubbly and golden, 20-25 minutes. Serve warm and, if desired, with whipped cream.
